Who Is Tim Warfield?
Tim Warfield is a powerhouse tenor saxophonist and one of the leading voices in acoustic jazz. Born in York, Pennsylvania, Tim began playing saxophone at a young age and quickly rose to national attention as a semifinalist in the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Saxophone Competition. Since then, he’s built an extraordinary career performing with jazz greats like Christian McBride, Nicholas Payton, Jimmy Smith, Terell Stafford, and Donald Byrd.
Known for his soulful tone, deep swing, and mastery of hard bop, Tim has released multiple critically acclaimed albums and contributed to Grammy-nominated projects. His music blends tradition with bold expression, making him both a steward of classic jazz and a visionary artist pushing it forward.
In addition to his stellar performing career, Tim is a devoted educator. As a professor at Temple University’s Boyer College of Music, he shares his knowledge, passion, and real-world experience with the next generation of jazz musicians—many of whom view him as both a mentor and a role model.
